Madam Umbridge?

So sorry to disturb you. I am sure you are very busy with your preparations for all of our events.I do just have one tiny question to ask of you. I would have made this private, but given the stipulation on private messages, I didn't really know if I should or not.

This concerns my guardian Mr Peakes. That past couple of weeks we have been communicating via owl. I prefer that all my messages to him remain private. And while I certainly don't mind sending him owls, it is better for both of us to communicate through the journals. So I suppose I am asking if you would be so kind to allow all of my communications home to be private? It would be very much appreciated.

Madam Umbridge,

Thank you for the recognition. I am happy to be an example of a Gryffindor that can live up to the YPL’s standards. It is also refreshing to see the changes in the YPL programme. I think that there were some that didn’t take the program seriously before. It is nice to have you here, being so devoted to our improvement.

As I am sure you know, my guardian is Mr Peakes. I mostly communicate to him by owl. Anyway, other than reminding me to remain on my best behaviour, he did ask me to make sure you have all the help you need, that a student is able to provide of course.

But even before his most recent letter, I was thinking about the note you sent. Even though I have not come to talk with you privately since our interview last month, I want you to be aware that I know where my loyalty lies. Since September, I have been thinking about how important it is to have the right core group of students representing our noble realm. With that in mind, I am keeping vigilant and will alert you immediately if anything should arise. If you need any further help, please know that I will not hesitate to offer my service.

I look forward to many more insightful YPL events.

I'm bored out of my mind, and even though we've done all those drills and fitness test, I'm not tired.

Anyway have you heard about Capper? I heard his wand was snapped, and he was taken to the camps. If there is one place I would do anything to stay away from, its the camps. I'm not really worried about my marks though. I'm sure we will both get more than the minimum number of O.W.L.s. I suppose we really know now what danger we face for not doing well.

So I'm assuming you were appointed Prefect. If either of the others would have gotten it, I am sure we would have heard no end to that celebration. Congrats mate. I knew it would be you, and you deserve it. The question now is how to get beyond the brooding looks you all too well know they will be throwing at us, especially at you.

Do kindly come see me. After we speak keep yourself away from Muirgheal Hedigan, at least until after dinner. Also, please leave the girls alone. You have not exhibited that sort of behaviour before. I would hate to have to tell Professor Sinistra that I had to have you sit out of this afternoon's activity due to inappropriate behaviour. Keep in mind, you are who your friends are. and you are always being watched. Bad behaviour now could limit your opportunities in the coming years. You may associate with whomever you like, but you do not have to follow their example. Remember you have the potential to set the higher example among your friends, and if they don't accept you they are not your friends.

Also a word of advice about Eva Spinx. She is not someone you want to make a enemy of. Give her back her makeup kit please, and apologise. Yes, I know you took it. Do it and do it quickly! For Merlin's sake, we all know what she looks like without it. Do that first, and then come see me.

The Weather

2nd Years,

I know the weather is not a dry as you would like it to be for this sort of event, but do stop complaining. We are all dealing with it. You only make people more irritable, by constantly bringing it up. Please just enjoy the scenery, and look forward to meeting the Cannons shortly. Its just a little misty, and will probably stop soon.

Hey Mate,

I know I have been rather quiet this past term. I have just been going through something quite personal. We are still mates, aren’t we? I feel as though we are separating. Also most like we are going different ways. I feel completely… For Merlin sake, I feel like I have caused you harm. My idiot scheme last summer kept you from being chosen as a YPL counselor. I apologise for that. If I could change things I would. I hope you can forgive me.

If we are still on good terms, would you like to spend the day with me this weekend? We can invite several of the others. Mr Peakes wanted to take care of some things in the country, so that’s where we are headed. As I am sure you remember there is plenty to do on his estate. I hope you can come. I hope we can salvage our friendship.

Private Message to Professor Sinistra

Professor,

I am very thankful for the chance to serve the YPL, and I will try my hardest to not let you down. With that said, I hope you don't find the rest of this note rude, or me stepping out of my place. I know the decisions are final, and I know I don't know and can't know why they were made. I just have something to say on behalf of a friend.

Seamus, I feel, has had a lot of negative attention due to the events of last summer especially when the event earlier this year was added on. Anyone who truely knows Seamus knows he wasn't trying to hurt Weasley. I didn't know about that prank, but I know Seamus would seek more to slightly embarrass in that way that we boys do, than to seriously injure. In the case of last summer, Seamus didn't act alone. And I wish people would recognize that. I own up to the incident as much as he does. POWs and using tactics to get them to reveal information was my idea, partly inspired by who I wrote to. I just can't sit back while my friend repeatedly takes criticism over a mistake we both made.

For Merlin's sake, I just hope you as well as all the others can see the good in Seamus. And not have your judgements clouded by the past actions of boys being idiots.

I still can't believe that you didn't get in. I would rather it be you than Weasley. I wish that last summer never happened. It's not like you did it on your own. I feel like they are still holding that against you (they were war games after all, and apologies have been made), and making it seem all the worse because of that prank. With the exception of CCF and any thing that we can do together, this summer is not gonna be that great.
Merlin, I hope one of us will get the prefectship. Maybe it will be you. They can't possibly think of making Weasley a prefect, and Longbottom doesn't have the confidence to carry the title with the respect it deserves. The prefectship would a joke if either one of them had it.

Anyway, I wonder who the donor was. And I really wonder who the extra is. I bet it's Weasley! He can't really be anyone's first choice. What do you think?

I saw you tried to write your sister and the Matron. I was in the hall when she passed out. It was in between classes., but I couldn't get close. The prefects in the area, told people to back off and give her some air, but when they couldn't wake her up, they took her to the hospital wing.

Serious Thinking

Since the new crop of firsties came in, I have been doing some serious thinking. It has prompted me to research my pure blooded family. I do have some minor information about them from when I checked the old school rosters a couple of years ago when I first arrived. But my concern now is to try to get to know what kind of people they are, and to see if they will over look my father's major flaws enough to talk to me.

That was great the way you handled the plan we set for P.O.W.s. I didn't know you had it in you to be so calculating. I am glad you are my mate.

Did you notice the looks we got from the Weasel at dinner? Sally Anne wasn't hurt, but she had to be taken out of play. She is okay at DA, and I didn't want to take any chances that they would use her to take out one of us. She was their only real chance of using Dark Arts.

It was a good day though, and you were brilliant mate.
