I agree with Seamus. The trip was great, but I am glad I am home. There was so much to do and some attitudes in which to escape. I have to say my favourite part of the trip was seeing the Aurors demonstrate their skills. It really makes you proud to know that the protectorate has some great witches and wizards defending its people. It also makes one hopeful in the ways he or she might be able to do their duty and serve the LP and the protectorate one day.

As always, when there is a group of us together drama can never be avoided. Although it may have been a little exciting, it seemed a waste of time with all the commotion about the supposed Snape/ not Snape appearance. I dare say certain people wanted to see him and any action it would have involved, no matter how silly and dangerous it would have been. I guess some people feed off of such silly attention.

Lucky for me, at the end of the trip, I didn't have very far to go. Mr Peakes made it back to New London, and we are staying at the house in town for the next couple of days. Then we will go back to the country estate. Seamus, I am sorry I didn't get the chance to say before, but Mr Peakes said you are welcome back anytime. As you know there is plenty of room and loads of things to do at the country estate. Do ask Mr Rosier if you may come again before the start of the next term.

Thank you Prof. Sinistra for planning such a great trip again for us. I had such a great time.

For your information, Thomas, we weren't feeding off anyone's attention.

We did see something. And Weasley saw it first.

Only we talked with the Aurors later last night and now it looks like we saw someone's dog. Or something.

Anyway, just because it wasn't that Snape bloke doesn't mean it couldn't have been. And no one did it to get attention. I'm sure I didn't want to ruin everyone's afternoon and nor did Lavender!

Well, good.

Wait. Do you mean who I think you mean? Did he tell you that he warned Lav on purpose or something? Was it all a prank?

Oh, that little.... If he was trying to get us in trouble I'll....

Nice.

You are such a nasty piece of work, Thomas. Really. Just go cruciate yourself.

I'm almost narked enough to tell you what I think of you straight out.

But, actually, this feels better right now.

Don't answer, Ron, the last thing you want is to have to answer any more questions about what you thought you saw.

I still say there's no point in getting hacked off at him until you've talked with him privately. He's pretending to be this way, I'm almost sure of it.

Don't hold it against him until he's said again it to your face, without any witnesses.

Believe me, I know all about pretending.

It's possible -- easy, even! -- to kiss the right arses without stabbing the other vulnerable people in the back.

Even a Gryffindor ought to be able to work that out.

(Sorry, Ron. It's just that I mean that sort of thing is second nature when you're in Slytherin, not so much for the other Houses.)

There are very few halfbloods in Slytherin.

Anyway, a Slytherin wouldn't critique MLE's response to Mr Crouch himself, and if they DID they certainly wouldn't talk about 'making a circus out of the situation,' for Merlin's sake! The best response to people like Mr Crouch is 'oh yes sir, thank you sir, I don't want to take up any more of your valuable time, sir,' and then to shut up.

Oh for Merlin's sake, Thomas. Far better that Ron and Lavender should raise what turned out to be a false alarm than they should keep their mouths shut about something odd when we KNOW Snape and Macnair are on the loose and we KNOW they're after Harry and we'd been TOLD that they might make a try for him while he was out of Buckingham.

Honestly. I'm glad you don't run MLE. 'Are you SURE you saw something? Perhaps we'll respond if anyone throws a curse at Mr Marvolo. After all, we wouldn't want to get excited over nothing.'

He can be a good little subject without saying that Ron called MLE down on Hyde Park for a laugh, which is what he's saying.

Even if he doesn't mean it he could get Ron into enormous trouble.

Although now it looks like he's working on getting himself into trouble. If you're right and he doesn't mean any of it and is just trying hard to get on the right side of the powerful people -- well, he's not very good at it.

Are the rest of you ABSOLUTELY SURE that Thomas hasn't worked out the lock? By listening in the dormitory?

Because he sounds a little like he's reading what I'm saying.

Although Mr Peakes was a Slytherin, I think. Maybe Mr Peakes had the same thought I did.

No, don't see how he could. If he had worked out the lock, he would have used it to talk to me, because I'm on the lock, and he was using an entirely different method to pass messages to me secretly.

And I'm sorry he's being a prat to everybody. Believe me, he'll hear about it from me. If I ever answer one of his notes again.

Thomas, I really hope if YOU spot someone who might be trying to harm Harry, you speak up first, and worry later about whether people will make fun of you for making a mistake.

Unless you think protecting Harry is one of those side duties that the MLE can just let slide when they're busy.

Thomas, is it?

Thank you for your concern with the speed of our investigations, Thomas. Though if I were you, I wouldn't tell others to keep silent about suspicious activity when they see it. All reports are important whether or not the information turns out to be correct.

If you have information to offer about your classmates' behaviour--particularly information based on actual knowledge or direct observation--MLE would be very happy to hear from you.

Well, it wouldn't have been a very big mistake if it was a Spectral Chameleon Hound. They can make themselves look a lot like people, you know, if they stand next to a person long enough. It's easy then to confuse one of them for a person at a distance.
